“You have to have long-term and short-term goals, and one of my long-term goals is to win the title again. I need to start taking the steps to achieve this, which is to have dominant performances and perform to my full potential”, he commented, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Junkie”. “I'm still not satisfied with my career. I'm 35 years old. Once I retire, I won't be able to compete for the rest of my life. It's a lifestyle for me and I want to keep earning it. If I can do this in a healthy way, without putting myself and my family at risk, I would love to keep fighting.”

Mir hasn't known what it's like to win since December 2011, when he finished Rodrigo Minotauro at UFC 140. Since then, the North American has lost to junior gypsy, Daniel Cormier, Josh Barnett and alistair overeem. Among his most famous victims are the Minotaur himself (twice), Roy Nelson, Mirko Cro Cop, Brock Lesnar and Tim Sylvia.
