On Tuesday night (17), for the first time since he was caught in a surprise doping test for using anabolic steroids, Anderson Silva will speak in public and present his version of the episode. In Las Vegas (USA), Spider and his lawyers have a hearing with the Nevada Athletic Commission for a preliminary assessment of the case.

The regulatory body meeting is scheduled to start at 19pm, Brasília time (13pm, Nevada local time). Anderson's case is the 38th on the meeting's long agenda. Exactly before the Brazilian, in the 37th case evaluated, will appear Nick Diaz, his opponent at UFC 183, caught in the post-fight drug test for using marijuana. As a repeat offender, Diaz is subject to harsh sanctions.

It is worth remembering that Anderson's presence, although expected, is not mandatory. This is because the final judgment, which will define a possible punishment for the fighter, should only take place in March or April. If the use of illegal substances is confirmed by the former champion, who still has the right to request re-proof of the exam carried out on January 9th, he could receive a suspension of 9 months or more, depending on the opinion of the commissioners.
