Anderson Silva is caught taking a doping test before UFC 183

Brazilian was caught before the fight against Nick Diaz with an anabolic steroid used to reinforce muscle rigidity

The MMA world is in shock. Early this Wednesday morning (04), Ultimate announced that Anderson Silva was caught in the anti-doping test carried out before UFC 183, an event held last Saturday. The fight against the North American Nick Diaz marked the Brazilian's return to the Octagon 13 months after a serious leg fracture at UFC 168, in December 2013.

According to the UFC's official statement, Anderson Silva tested positive for drostanalone metabolites in a test carried out on January 9, 22 days before the duel against Diaz. The substance is an anabolic steroid used to reinforce muscle rigidity and is on the list of products prohibited by WADA. In addition to Anderson, Nick Diaz, was also caught in the test for using marijuana. This is the third time that the North American has been tested for drug use.

On February 03, 2015, the UFC organization was notified by the Nevada Athletic Commission that Anderson Silva tested positive for Drostanolone in the test for his fight, carried out on January 09th. The UFC understands that further testing will be conducted by the Commission to confirm these preliminary results.
