With only eight of the 22 athletes selected being members of the top-15 of their respective categories, UFC 180, held last Saturday (15) in Mexico, caused few significant changes to the official Ultimate rankings. The biggest example of this is that the big change in the list occurred in the weight-for-weight ratio, regardless of categories, in which the muse Ronda Rousey continued with its rise in popularity and surpassed Anderson Silva.
In the last ranking update, Ronda was in eighth place, while Anderson was in seventh place – which makes him the best ranked non-champion. In the most recent version of the list, Spider fell to eighth place, being surpassed precisely by Rousey. Another Brazilian who fell pound for pound was Vitor belfort. The Phenomenon was overcome by Dominick Cruz and now it's 13th.
Hunt falls after defeat and Gastelum fires
Involved in the main fights of UFC 180, Mark Hunt e Kelvin Gastelum they experienced very different situations both in the octagon and in the rankings. While the New Zealander – defeated by Fabricio Werdum in the main fight in Mexico – he fell to fifth place in the heavyweight division, Gastelum – who won Jake ellenberger in the co-main event – took off at welterweight. The TUF 17 champion moved up four positions and is now seventh in the under-77 kg category.
