For many years, the most anticipated superfight by UFC fans was Georges St Pierre x Anderson Silva. Time has passed and today the two, who were the organization's longest-serving champions, do not have their belts – the Brazilian preparing to return to the octagon and the Canadian away from MMA. Anderson's opponent on his return, the controversial North American Nick Diaz commented on the hypothetical dream duel and said that the fault for the fight not taking place lies with his eternal disaffection St. Pierre.
“The ‘old’ St. Pierre isn’t fighting anymore, right? He could take a fight like this (against Spider), but he's afraid of fighting in the middleweight division. The reality is that he is afraid to face the Anderson Silva. I'm not worried about who will be smaller on fight day, maybe 10%. And as far as I know, Anderson never had any problems making weight,” said Diaz, in an interview with “The MMA Hour” podcast.
Without fighting since March 2013, when he was defeated precisely by Georges St Pierre, Nick Diaz also returns to the octagon on January 31, 2015. On that date, the North American will face the Brazilian Anderson Silva in the main fight of UFC 183, an event that will be held at the MGM Grand Garden, in Las Vegas (USA).
