Since gaining prominence within the UFC, Conor McGregor is often compared to Chael Sonnen due to his controversial statements outside the octagon. And the Irishman's stance won the approval of the retired fighter, who stated that the featherweight is presenting ideal behavior for those who want to gain notoriety among MMA fans.

“I love everything that Conor McGregor Is doing. He entertains people so much, and I think he's an excellent fighter. When I see people talking about McGregor and saying he likes to talk nonsense, they don't understand what he's doing and they don't pay attention to his interviews. Conor isn't talking nonsense. There are people who like to talk bad about others, but he is promoting himself. He doesn't insult others, although that happens a little. He’s there to entertain”, analyzed Sonnen, in an interview with the podcast “It’s Time!”, from announcer of the UFC, Bruce Buffer.

“You have these fighters who say they are not there to talk, but to fight. Well, that's not true when you're at a press conference. There, you are not there to fight, but to talk. Some of these guys don't understand that. Conor knows how to entertain people. He attracts attention, has a unique look and a great accent”, continued the North American.

However, Sonnen was uncertain about McGregor's potential to win the UFC featherweight belt. “Is he good enough for the top 3? Frankie Edgar, one of the best of all time, Chad Mendes e José Aldo, another among the best of all time? I don't know. We'll have to see. I would be impressed if he won”, concluded the former fighter.
Before thinking about the belt, McGregor has one more commitment confirmed: in January, he will face Dennis Siver in the city of Boston, in the United States.
