Last weekend, fans who dream of seeing the duel between Wanderlei Silva e Chael Sonnen in MMA gained hope with XFC event plans. However, the American tried to throw cold water on expectations by refusing to fight – at least according to the rules of mixed martial arts.

In contact with the North American website “MMA Mania”, Sonnen highlighted that he is still retired from MMA, and that, in addition, he intends to comply with the two-year suspension he received from the Nevada Athletic Commission for the doping episodes months ago. .

However, Sonnen made a counter-proposal to the Brazilian: he wants to face Wanderlei in the submission Metamoris, created and organized by Ralek Gracie in the United States. Metamoris has already held four events, the last of which had the participation of Sonnen, who was defeated by André Galvão via submission. The fifth edition is scheduled for the end of the month, starring an old rival of Wanderlei, Kazushi Sakuraba, who faces Renzo Gracie.

Despite having Muay Thai as his main focus, Wand has been Cristiano Marcello's jiu-jitsu black belt for over ten years. In his long MMA career, the former PRIDE champion has never lost a fight via submission, and he already made an opponent give the “three taps” when he applied a rear naked choke to Bob Schrijber in 2000.
