Pezão is doing well after surgery and should return to training in two months

According to his manager, the Brazilian is eager to fight again and wants to overcome his defeat at UFC Brasília soon.

After undergoing an operation to remove a tumor in the pituitary region this Tuesday (23), the UFC heavyweight Antonio Pezão He's doing well and is already thinking about his return to the Octagon. According to the fighter's manager, Alex Davis, the surgical procedure was a success and Pezão should be able to return to training in around 60 days.

“The surgery was a success. It's head surgery, so it's always complicated. They had to access the gland under the brain through the nose, so it's not a simple surgery, especially for a fighter who gets punched in the face for a living," Davis told MMA Fighting. “He should be released to train again in two months. I think he will be ready to fight in five or six months. He wants to fight again. He is disappointed with his last fight.”

In his last appearance in the octagon, on September 13th in Brasília (DF), Pezão was knocked out in the first round by the Belarusian Andrei Arlovski, in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 51. At 35 years old, Antônio Silva has a professional record of 18 wins, six losses and one draw. The heavyweight hasn't won a fight since February last year, when he overcame alistair overeem.
