Chris Weidman, the UFC middleweight champion, has been one of the main supporters of the increase in anti-doping tests on MMA fighters. Therefore, the North American approved the latest news on the subject, especially those involving Chael Sonnen e Vitor belfort.

Sonnen was caught in a surprise test carried out in May, having even presented two substances that provide increased strength and physical resistance. Belfort tested positive in February, with a testosterone level above the permitted level.

Weidman, who will make his second belt defense next Saturday (5), against Lyoto Machida, highlighted the importance of the results of the latest exams carried out. “I still love Sonnen to death, but this opened our eyes to what these guys are doing. And that irritates me. I want the guys to be tested as much as possible, with blood tests or whatever,” he said, in a press conference reproduced by the North American website “MMA Fighting”.

The American also did not fail to needle Belfort, with whom he would fight before the ban on testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), a practice that was adopted by the Brazilian. “For me, it's difficult to think about Vitor at the moment, but if I face him, he will be tested. He has already been caught twice [the other one Weidman refers to was in 2006, after fighting Dan Henderson in PRIDE]. Last time I saw him, he looked like he had a tail wagging. He's becoming like a horse with so much testosterone. I think it needs to be tested as much as possible,” he pointed out.
