This Tuesday (17), Wanderlei Silva admitted, in a hearing with the Nevada Athletic Commission, that he refused to undergo a surprise anti-doping test from the entity because he had been using anti-inflammatories and diuretics, illegal substances, due to the fracture suffered in the fight with Chael Sonnen on TUF Brasil 3. Initially, the Brazilian did not receive any type of punishment from the regulatory body, which chose to make a decision on the case in a future session. Upon leaving the audience, Wand celebrated the result, thanked the support he received from fans on social media and already projected his future against two well-known rivals.

“I think the two fights that people still want to see are with Sonnen and Belfort. I keep training, I'm training hard. I didn't know if they were going to let me fight now on July 5th, I kept training for that reason and these are two fights that I want, that the people want and, God willing, they will still happen. But I want to take this opportunity and thank everyone who sent positive messages on Twitter and Instagram. It's great to receive your support, this story was really resolved and ended here today. It was a big misunderstanding. I was just taking medication, it wasn't anabolic at all. I even did my hormone test in Brazil and it was well below average, I even had low hormones”, said “Crazy Dog”, in an interview with the “Combate” channel website.

PUBLICITY:

At 37, Wanderlei Silva has a record of 35 wins, 12 wins, one draw and one fight without result. Former champion of the extinct PRIDE, Wanderlei arrived in Ultimate in 2007 and in the organization he recorded four wins and five defeats. In 2012, the Curitiba native shared the technical functions of TUF Brasil 1 with Vitor belfort, but the coaches' duel did not take place due to an injury suffered by Vitor. In 2014, Wand starred in one of the most intense rivalries in the history of reality television against Chael Sonnen, during the explosive TUF Brasil 3. Despite arguments, exchanges of barbs and even a televised fight, the pair did not face each other due to problems they both had with the Nevada Athletic Commission. Despite the Brazilian's desire, this is a fight that is unlikely to happen in the future, as Sonnen announced his retirement from MMA last week.
