As soon as the exit from Wanderlei Silva of the fight against Chael Sonnen confirmed, the controversial North American wasted no time in turning his arsenal of provocations against the Brazilian. "Wanderlei fought his entire life under dark suspicions that he was using performance-enhancing drugs. However, he has never failed a drug test, so we can't speculate on that kind of thing. But that clean record ended Saturday night. Not only did he fail the test, he refused to submit. He ran from the test and I say he literally ran. They went to Wanderlei's gym and he literally ran out the back door“, shot Sonnen.

The North American fighter also revealed that he already suspected that Wanderlei would not face him and that he only agreed to face Vitor belfort for a new opportunity to fight for the middleweight belt.

“I already suspected that Wanderlei wouldn't fight. I even asked him at the press conference: 'Are you going to show up on July 5th?' and he didn't respond. And when I found out that he literally ran away from the test... Dana called me and said: 'Wanderlei is out, and Vitor agreed to replace him. Okay for you?' And I asked: 'Vitor was the number one contender, does that mean that the winner of this fight will be the next to fight for the belt?' and he said yes, so I said, 'I'll see you on July 5th,'” concluded Sonnen.
