According to a Anderson Silva, the UFC middleweight division will have a new champion soon. The former holder of the division's belt bets that Lyoto Machida will displace Chris Weidman and will become Ultimate champion for the second time in his career.
Anderson, middleweight champion between 2006 and 2013, stated, in an interview with the North American website “MMA Heat”, that he sees Machida as fully capable of overcoming the current belt holder. "I am really happy. I saw Lyoto training at Black House and he is doing very, very well. He is in shape, with good physical conditioning. I'm excited for this fight and Lyoto will win. Lyoto is faster, he is strong. I believe he will win and be the new champion”, said Anderson.
“Spider” lost the title to Weidman, being knocked out in the second round. In the rematch, the Brazilian suffered a broken leg in the second round, which resulted in another defeat by technical knockout.
Weidman will defend his second belt against Machida on July 5th, in Las Vegas, in the United States. The fight will be the main attraction of UFC 175, which should feature another title fight, between Ronda Rousey e Alexis Davis, in addition to the long-awaited meeting between Chael Sonnen e Wanderlei Silva.
