The former light heavyweight champion stated that he is not in favor of the strategy that Sonnen uses to promote himself. “Chael is a great guy. I already met him and we went out together. “I understand what he does. He's not the most exciting fighter, so he becomes an exciting figure by promoting the fight very well. This has already earned him some title fights. It works, but this tactic of telecatch It doesn't make sense to me, and I don't like it. But things are like that. Some fans like it, and it makes people watch the fights. Some of the things he said, I think, crossed the line. Unless you're an actor, which is when you can say these things because everyone knows it's a lie,” continued the legendary fighter, retired in 2010.

According to Liddell, Sonnen's provocations were precisely what triggered the fighter's fight with Wanderlei Silva during the recording of TUF Brasil 3. “I'm sure Sonnen didn't want to start the fight, but I wouldn't be surprised if he crossed the line and Wanderlei attacked him. Everyone has a limit, especially fighters”, pondered Liddell.
