After debuting with defeat in Ultimate, featherweight (up to 65,7kg) Lucas Alexander showed that his debut was just an 'accident along the way' and delivered an impeccable performance at UFC San Antonio. Facing Steven Peterson, the Tupiniquim athlete showed off his striking, punished his rival with many low kicks and emerged victorious in the judges' unanimous decision.

With the triumph over the local athlete, Lucas recovers from the defeat he suffered against Joanderson Tubarão, in October 2022, and will now be able to work calmly on his next commitments in the organization. The Brazilian athlete now has a record of eight triumphs and three setbacks in professional sport.

THE FIGHT

The duel started as a kickboxing fight, with Lucas using low kicks a lot and showing good striking against Alexander, who was not intimidated and tried to respond to all the blows in kind. Showing great ease in the stand-up fight and changing bases, Lucas terrified his rival and landed a bomb in the final seconds that led to the North American being knocked down and the bell immediately sounded.

The second half started in the same way as the first, with Alexander using his skillful striking. Steven tried to take down the Brazilian, but Lucas defended the takedown well. With his left leg damaged by so many kicks, Peterson began to show signs that he was not keeping up with the Tupiniquim athlete's pace. Without any scares, Lucas continued to put on a show in the stand-up fight and was practically not threatened by his opponent.

The last stage of the fight began with Peterson trying to corner Lucas and receiving a kick to the ribs. Steven tried to press again and ended up landing an unintentional low blow on the Brazilian. After a few minutes, the fight was restarted and the North American tried to get into the Brazilian's legs, however, Lucas defended masterfully and still fell on top with ground and pound. Escaping from Peterson's grappling, Lucas quickly got to his feet and brought the fight back to its 'natural habitat'. The fight cooled off slightly and began to receive boos from the audience at the arena in San Antonio. Peterson tried to corner the Brazilian again and suffered another blow that led to his knockdown. In the final seconds, the two athletes exchanged blows openly in the center of the cage.
