For many years, Georges St Pierre e Anderson Silva They were the UFC's two biggest stars. Champions, respectively, of the welterweight and middleweight divisions, the Canadian and the Brazilian were constantly associated with a hypothetical superfight. Nowadays, however, both are away from the sport – GSP by choice and Anderson recovering from an injury. Despite this, St. Pierre is still betting on Spider's return and believes he was the best fighter of all time.

“I believe Anderson will return. The injury he had on his leg looked bad, but if you ask a doctor, (he'll tell you) it heals very well. If there was no damage to the nerves, it heals very well. It's not like a joint injury. I'm sure he'll come back. For me, Anderson Silva He was the best of all time and the best pound for pound of his time. I really believe that he was the best and no matter what happens to him, win or lose, he will always be an idol in people's eyes”, said GSP during an event promoted by his sports equipment sponsor in Rio de Janeiro, in video released by the “MMA Fighting” website.

In addition to talking about Anderson Silva, St. Pierre also commented on his own situation. According to the Canadian, his and Anderson's absence can be compensated by other athletes currently on the UFC roster. However, even so, he did not rule out a future return. “There are other stars in the UFC. The fact that I took a break from my career won't take anything away from the UFC. Now other guys will have more exposure and I think everyone in the business is replaceable, no one is irreplaceable. But, who knows, in a little while I might get bored and start fighting again. Now I am happy, living a healthy style,” he revealed.
