WSOF proposal interests Pedro Rizzo: 'It would be great to fight again in Brazil'

Veteran, however, asked for a good opponent and time to prepare for combat

At 39 years old, and without fighting since May last year, Pedro Rizzo appears to be far from retiring. Even though he has been occupying other roles outside the ring for a few years, the Rio native remains interested in new fights. In an interview with the “MMA Fighting” website, Rizzo said he was excited about the club’s plans. World Series of Fighting to invite you to the organization's first event in Brazil.

“They (WSOF) are doing a good job in the US and it would be great to be able to fight in Brazil again. If they give me a good opponent, even better. Give me time to prepare and let's do the fight”, said Rizzo, who also commented on his current physical shape. “Unfortunately, I haven't been fighting much lately. But if you ask me if I've stopped fighting, I'll say no. I'm in shape. I train every day when I'm working with Glover Teixeira, Big Foot, Anderson Silva ou José Aldo in their camps. I’m not in shape to fight, but I’m in shape to start a training camp to fight,” she assessed.

Despite stating that he continues to fight because he loves the sport, the former UFC heavyweight title challenger recognized that a good opponent would make him even more motivated. “I'm approaching 40 and I'll fight anyone. Everyone knows, I never chose opponents. I went to Russia to fight Fedor (Emelianenko) two years after my last fight. If they come with a good opponent, they will motivate me even more to continue on this journey for a long time. My goal is to put on a great fight for the fans in Brazil. It's making people think, 'Wow! He's 40 years old and still fighting like this?'. That’s what I want,” he concluded.

Pedro Rizzo has a record of 19 wins in eleven defeats. Veteran of events such as World Vale Tudo Championship, PRIDE, Affliction and M-1 Global, Rizzo fought for the UFC heavyweight belt on three occasions, but ended up defeated each time – twice to Randy Couture and once to Kevin Randleman. “The Rock”, as he is known, comes from two consecutive defeats, to Fedor EmelianenkoSatoshi Ishii.
