Magomed Ankalayev was one of the highlights of UFC 277, an event held last Saturday (30) and got closer to a light heavyweight (up to 93kg.) belt fight after winning Anthony Smith on the main card. Asked about his next step in the category, the Russian reveals that he saw the fight between Jiri Prochazka e Glover Teixeira and, despite praising the Czech, he claims to be ready to beat him.

“I'm ready, but I'll wait for what the UFC has to offer my managers. I watched his last fight (Jiri Prochazka) against Teixeira. I consider him a very good fighter, but I'm going to prepare and I feel that now I can get past him,” said Ankalaev in a post-event interview.

With the triumph, Ankalaev qualified himself for a possible chance to compete for light heavyweight 'gold'. The Russian achieved his ninth consecutive victory, in addition to 18 positive results and one negative result in his career. He is fourth place and should move up in the rankings at 93kg.

The mission of facing Prochazka, however, may be complete. The Czech, in a recent publication in 'Instagram', declared his interest in a rematch with Glover Teixeira so that he can 'prove' himself as a legitimate light heavyweight champion (up to 93kg.). Jiri reached the top after submitting the Brazilian in the fifth round and was at a disadvantage in the judges' scores if the fight went to a decision.
