Ortiz and Couture were not loyal to the UFC and are paying the price, says Hughes

'If you're good with the UFC, it'll be good with you,' says former welterweight champion and Hall of Famer

Matt Hughes Press Conference

Member of the UFC Hall of Fame and one of the biggest names in MMA history, Matt hugs considers that Randy Couture and Tito Ortiz they are paying the price for not being loyal to the event.

Despite also being part of the Hall of Fame, Ortiz and Couture have had a rocky relationship with the franchise in recent years. The “Bad Boy from Huntington Beach” had a long history of love and hate with the event's president, Dana White, even threatening to mess up next Saturday's event, which will mark the UFC's 20th anniversary.

Couture, although less controversial, also did not stop exchanging barbs with the organization, having even sued the UFC when he was the heavyweight champion.

“The way I see it, it was their decision. Randy sued the UFC, so he should know there will be some animosity because of what happened,” said Hughes. “I’m not saying the UFC never did anything wrong to Randy, but that’s what I think.”

The former champion continued: “With Tito, it was the same thing. I think he spoke badly about the UFC. I would say if you are good with the UFC, it will be good with you. These guys, at some point in their careers, were not loyal to the UFC, so they are paying the price.”

Saturday's event, UFC 167, will feature the man who defeated Hughes at welterweight in the main fight, Georges St Pierre, who will defend his belt against the dangerous challenger John hendricks.
