Brazilian representative on the PFL 5 2022 preliminary card, held this Friday (24), in Atlanta (USA), Sheymon Moraes did not have a good performance. Opponent of two-time featherweight tournament champion (up to 65,7kg) Lance Palmer, the Niteroi native had difficulties facing the North American's strategy. Victim of his rival's wrestling, the Tupiniquim ended up being defeated by the judges' unanimous decision.
With the result, Moraes remains with three points in the championship. The place in the knockout stage is still uncertain for the fighter.
PFL champion in 2018 and 2019, Palmer found his way back to victory after three consecutive stumbles. Star of the organization, the athlete scored the first three points in the tournament.
The fight
The confrontation began with Moraes taking the initiative with a jab. In his first action, Palmer went for the Brazilian's waist and managed a takedown, reaching his back afterwards. Sheymon protected himself and tried to prevent his opponent's transitions. After about two minutes of confrontation, Lance remained glued to the Brazilian and did not allow the Tupiniquim to get up. Halfway through the stage, the North American managed to get into mount and struck with ground and pound. In the final minute, Palmer continued to control the actions and nullify his opponent.
In the second stage, Palmer continued with his strategy. In the opening seconds, the North American once again took down the Brazilian, who was finding it difficult to stop his rival's momentum. After almost two minutes, the Niteroi native managed to stay on his feet and connected with a high kick that exploded onto his opponent's head. Even attacked, Palmer did not accuse the coup. Halfway through the round, Sheymon shook his opponent with a cross and immediately the former champion went for the Tupiniquim's legs, knocking the athlete down. Moraes got back to his feet but was pressed against the bars by the American. In the final seconds, Palmer took down again and left no room for his opponent to react.
In the last round, Palmer again looked for a takedown at the beginning of the stage. The North American pressed the Brazilian against the bars. With just over two minutes left, Lance took down again. The Brazilian tried hard and stayed on his feet, but was taken down again afterwards. In the final minute, the American attempted a rear naked choke, but there was no more time.

Representative of the heavyweight division (up to 120,2kg), Juan Adams had plenty of emotion in his commitment. In the third appearance of the event, the North American experienced ups and downs in the open fight against Sam Kei. After scares, the 'giant' achieved a knockout in the second round.
Adams' triumph is not enough to make the fighter advance to the knockout stage of the category's tournament. The combatant, however, reached five points (three for the triumph, two more for the positive result in the second round).
Defeated in PFL 5 2022, Kei, who debuted in the organization this weekend, says goodbye to the tournament. The athlete did not score.
Ryoji Kudo runs over and adds six points

Representative of Japan, Royji Kudo put on a real show in the second fight of the event. Opponent of Alejandro Flores, the featherweight took no notice of his rival and won in devastating fashion. With devastating strength in his fists, the athlete knocked out his rival in the first round.
With the result, Kudo adds his first points in the regular season in the PFL. Due to the outcome on the fast track, in the first stage, the Japanese scored six points.
Outperformed by Royji, Flores lost the chance to qualify for the knockout stage. The Mexican then remains parked in the table, with three points.
