Champion comments on tense moment in the first round against Arlene Blencowe, but says she was not afraid of losing by disqualification

Pivot of a tense moment for Brazilian fans in Bellator 279, Chris Cyborg spoke about the penalty suffered in the first round of the fight against Arlene Blencowe. The Brazilian legend analyzed the illegal knee applied to his opponent and justified the unintentional action. In a press conference after the show, the athlete, who won and defended the featherweight belt (up to 65,7kg), spoke about the incident.

“The knee should have hit (Blencowe’s) shoulder and hit his head. It was unintentional”, said the Brazilian, who ended up losing a point after the action.

The blow, which could have ended the fight if Arlene had not been able to return to the fight, did not scare Cris. The athlete stated that she did not fear the worst, which could cost her the title in a confrontation that was largely dominated by the Curitiba native.

“No (I thought I would be disqualified). The blow was not that strong. I didn’t see it that way,” she concluded.
