“After a year off, I rethought. I feel like fighting again. That's what I know how to do very well. (…) I was fed up with 24 years of fighting. (…) I wanted to take a break, and it was long enough. (…) If the guys want to pay millions, why not? Not just for that. I wanted to show something more. I’ll be able to show everyone that I’m a born fighter”, admitted the former UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2kg).

Under contract with the PFL, Fabrício revealed that his idea is to fulfill commitments within the organization. The athlete then spoke about his plans to be included in the organization's 2022 season.

“My last fight in the PFL, of my career, was a little strange, because it was a 'no contest' (against Renan Problem, in 2021). I didn't like it, I wasn't comfortable. It will be important to return for several reasons. This 'jackpot' of earning such good money also makes a lot of difference, thinking about my daughters' future, increasing their assets. (…) It's been 24 years of fighting. It's what I really like to do. (…) I think June or July (when you plan to return). If it's a super fight, I'm accepting it. If it's for the championship (heavyweight tournament), I would enter too. If someone were to get injured, I don't have that vanity, I would go in without any problem. I'm already getting ready. Confirming the fight, I will go to the United States as soon as possible. (…) I stay there as long as necessary to train with Master Rafael Cordeiro (at 'Kings MMA')”, he concluded.
