On his official 'Twitter', Cormier stated that both fighters should have been disqualified for their attitudes in the fight. He also recalled that, when he competed, he did not waste blows on his opponents.

“Not hitting Caio (Borralho) or Martin (Buday), but every time I threw a blow in the octagon it was intentional. Both should have been disqualified!” wrote DC.

The first controversy occurred on the preliminary card, when Martin Buday got it right Chris Barnett with an elbow to the back of the head in the third round. The doctors entered the octagon and saw that the Spaniard was no longer able to continue, but the fight referee, Dan Miragliotta, judged the Slovak's attitude as unintentional and the fight ended in a technical decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

The result was also repeated with Caio Borralho, in the second most important fight of the night, when he delivered a knee to Gadzhi Omargadzhiev's head, while the Russian was in three supports. The action was taken by the same referee, who judged the blow unintentional, with the Brazilian emerging victorious at 29-27.
