Since becoming the target of several Ultimate fighters, Chael Sonnen seems to have been quite undecided regarding his next opponent. After considering battles against Lyoto Machida, Vitor belfort e Wanderlei Silva, and see Dana White point Phil Davis as his likely opponent, the loudmouth challenged a new athlete: the former light heavyweight champion Rashad evans.
“Hey Rashad, let me ask you a question… Will you be busy on November 16th?”, Sonnen posted on his profile on Twitter. After Evans' response, who asked “what was the best date” for the date, the American was direct. “I'll give you a suggestion”, he wrote, along with a montage of the UFC 167 poster with a fight between the two.
The most curious thing about the image published by Sonnen is the way in which the supposed fight between him and Evans appears. In the montage, the loudmouth placed the duel as the main one for the event, leaving only a secondary space, almost at the bottom, for the real main event of the night that marks 20 years of the UFC: between the welterweight champion Georges St Pierre and the challenger John hendricks.
On the 17rd of August, Chael Sonnen finished Mauritius Shogun in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 26 and since then has appeared in both the middleweight and light heavyweight rankings of Ultimate. Since then, whenever he talks about his future, Sonnen has made no secret of his desire to perform at the organization's twentieth anniversary event, on November 16th.
