Executioner of Jorge masvidal in 2017, Stephen Thompson welcomes promoting a new fight against his former victim. Willing to share the octagon with his compatriot for the second time, the veteran believes that the negative series of both can help the confrontation 'get off the ground'. In an interview with 'The MMA Hour', the former challenger for the welterweight belt (up to 77kg.) spoke about the subject.

“A revenge against Jorge masvidal it would be incredible. 'The nicest guy in the world' versus the 'thickest guy'. I hadn't talked about it yet. (…) He (Jorge) went to fight in the street after the fight (against Colby covington). We get paid to fight (in the octagon). Come on, man,” Thompson said.

Challenger for the welterweight belt twice, in 2016 and 2017, Stephen Thompson is going through his most complicated moment in his career in MMA. The North American has accumulated four victories in his last 10 appearances, and has not triumphed since December 2020, when he overcame Geoff neal.

Star in UFC 272, Masvidal is coming off a bitter defeat against his former best friend, Colby covington, a result that led the veteran to his third stumble in a row. Before losing to his former training partner, 'Jesus das Ruas' had two setbacks, both against Kamaru Usman, competing for the throne of the under-77kg division.
