The light heavyweight Mauricio Shogun He became internationally famous for his aggressive Muay Thai, which helped him achieve 18 knockouts in 21 MMA victories. However, the offensive arsenal of the native of Curitiba is not limited to fighting on the feet. Shogun trusts jiu-jitsu to overcome Chael Sonnen, this Saturday, in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 26.
In an interview with the MMA Brasil website, Shogun praised his rapport with master Roberto Gordo, who started to take care of the fighter's jiu-jitsu training. “I had excellent jiu-jitsu training. Gordo is a great master, his training is great”, said the fighter to MMA Brasil. “If I get the opportunity, I’ll go for it.”
The partnership between Shogun and the leader of Evolve MMA in Brazil worked during the short camp for the canceled clash against Rogério Minotouro and he shouldn't stop after the fight against Sonnen.
“I always really liked training jiu-jitsu and I got along very well with Gordo. So much so that, when they postponed my fight, I insisted that he go to Curitiba again to participate in the camp. His training is great and he applies jiu-jitsu very well to MMA.”
