Still recovering from a serious fracture suffered in the trilogy against Dustin poirier, Conor McGregor surprised and, in an interview with 'The Mac Life', changed his aim to Kamaru Usman. The Irishman, who is approaching a comeback, explains that he has gained muscle mass and wants to fight for the welterweight belt (up to 77kg) in his next performance.

“I believe (my return will be) against Usman for the welterweight title. That's what I have my eye on at the moment. I reached a light frame, but I'm big now. Big, strong and healthy. I have good energy. Coming back after a horrible injury, I don't want to burn out. There's no need to exhaust myself. And I feel confident against Usman – a sloppy orthodox fighter with no submissions whatsoever. What is he going to do? Where is the danger here? I don’t see any danger in him”, explained Conor.

McGregor made a new request, different from what had been speculated for his future. In fact, the 'Notório' planned to return to the lightweight division (up to 70,3kg) and face the winner of Charles of the Bronx e Justin gaethje, which are faced in the UFC 274, on May 7nd.

The desire, however, does not seem so simple to happen. Champion of the under-77kg division, Usman underwent surgery on his hand and should have a rematch against Leon edwards for the next title defense.
