A recent story involving the arrest of Cain Velasquez for attempted murder in San Jose, California (USA), may have gained important new chapters last Tuesday night (1). According to information published by the newspaper “San Jose Mercury-News”, the former UFC heavyweight champion (up to 120,2 kg) was arrested after shooting at a car occupied by three individuals, one of them being a man recently accused of molest a close relative of the fighter. As she is a minor, the identity of the alleged victim of sexual abuse is kept private. The accused man is Harry Eugene Goularte, 43, who lives in San Martin, California (USA) in a daycare run by his mother. According to information from the “NBC Bay Area” channel, documents indicate that the alleged abuse against the family member of Cain Velazquez may have happened “100 times”.
Harry Eugene Goularte was indicted last Friday (25) accused of “indecent and lascivious act with a child under 14 years of age”. Despite objections from the Santa Clara Public Ministry, Goularte was released.
The incident involving Cain Velazquez occurred three days after Goularte's release. According to information from “Mercury-News”, Cain Velazquez opened fire on a car occupied by Goularte and two other people. The man hit and taken to hospital, however, would be Goularte's stepfather, who is not at risk of death.
At 39, Cain Velazquez is being held without bail at the Santa Clara County Main Jail. The former Ultimate champion has a hearing scheduled for this Wednesday (2), at noon local time.
