Joana Prado, Belfort's wife and manager, confirmed his interest to Combate.com, but once again said that Vitor will only fight as a middleweight from now on if he is worth the category's belt, against the winner of Chris Weidman e Anderson Silva.

"I Think Chael Sonnen It would be an interesting fight either at combined weight or light heavyweight. I think it would be Belfort against Chael Sonnen. In the middleweights, we only take the winner of Chris Weidman against Anderson Silva. I think Sonnen is the best name in terms of fight impact and in terms of an event in Brazil, Las Vegas or anywhere else. He, besides being a good fighter, is a great promoter, so I think he would promote this fight well.”

Sonnen faces Mauricio Shogun on August 17, in the main fight of UFC Fight Night 26. Belfort has not had a fight scheduled since he knocked out Luke Rockhold, at UFC No Combate 2, in Jaraguá do Sul, in May.
