Ciryl Gane denies surprise with Ngannou's takedown game at UFC 270: 'I expected it'

Last Saturday (22), in the main fight of UFC 270, Francis Ngannou derrotou Cyryl Gane to unify the organization's heavyweight belts (up to 120,2 kg). Known for the power of his hands, the Cameroonian surprised many people by using wrestling very well to achieve victory. Cyryl Gane, however, guarantees that he is not among those who were surprised.

In a press conference after the event, the former interim champion of the division assured that he was already looking forward to the falls match. Francis Ngannou, but praised his opponent for his success.

“It wasn’t a surprise. We already expected him to do this to try to win a few rounds. He did that really well, so good job,” Gane said.

Cyryl Gane assured that he had prepared himself in training for the possibility of Francis Ngannou invest in the takedown game. According to the Frenchman, he and his team came to the conclusion that this would be one of the few chances for the Cameroonian to emerge victorious.

“Yes, of course (I expected it). It was like I said, we already knew it was the best chance he had of winning”, replied Gane.

The defeat for Francis Ngannou was the first in his career Cyryl Gane. The former interim division champion now has ten wins and one setback in his career.
