On the eve of his biggest challenge as a football coach, Cyryl Gane, Fernand Lopez did not expect that he would face such a huge 'emotional obstacle'. On the 'media day' of UFC 270, the coach of the interim heavyweight leader (up to 120,2kg) said that the fact that he knows the linear champion intimately and was honest in admitting that he doesn't know how he will feel when he sees the Cameroonian on the other side of the Octagon.

“I know the guy on the other side of the octagon. We share things together. I have some thoughts that I think he was wrong on a lot of things. If on Saturday I make him lose this fight, that could be a victory in the mentality I had. If he makes Ciryl lose this fight, well, that could be his victory, saying, 'I was right. You can't be as successful living in Paris. You can't be a champion in Europe'. My view is that this is wrong,” Fernand said.
Former trainer of the linear heavyweight champion, Lopez admitted that next Saturday's fight is affecting his emotions a little more than normal.
“Absolutely, 100% emotional. I don't know... I can't say exactly what kind of emotion I'll have on Saturday, but I certainly will. If you get random fights, whenever you train someone, you get kind of emotional because you trained them and you're connected to them. This case is even worse”, concluded the coach.
the duel between Francis Ngannou e Cyryl Gane has been surrounded by provocations since it was made official. Both fighters were trained by Fernand Lopez, at the 'MMA Factory' gym, in Paris (FRA). The main duel of UFC 270 will be valid for the unification of the heavyweight belt.
