Since Jon Jones announced the transition to heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg), a debate began regarding the former light heavyweight champion's (up to 93 kg) ability to repeat his dominance in the new division. Furthermore, there was a consensus that Jones would be the next challenger for the belt following the dispute between Francis Ngannou, linear champion and Cyryl Gane, interim champion, this Saturday (22). Dana White, however, is not so sure of that possibility.

In an interview with North American ESPN, last Wednesday (19), Dana White said he was not so confident that Jones would be the next challenger for the heavyweight belt and even raised the possibility of the former champion not even fighting in the category.

“I don’t feel confident in saying that Jon Jones It is the next. Not because I think he's untrustworthy, it's because I honestly don't know what Jon Jones want to do next. I think Jon will watch this fight and decide. Maybe he doesn't want to fight at heavyweight. Maybe he'll come back and try to win back the light heavyweight title. I honestly don’t know the answer to that question,” Dana said.

Asked if Jon Jones would attend the Honda Center, in Anaheim, California, headquarters of the UFC 270, Dana White stated that it would be great to have “Bones” present, but that he believes it would be better for the former champion to watch the event from the comfort of his home.

“It would be great to have Jon here, but I think he’ll probably be better off at home. Jon should watch this fight from home,” replied Dana White.

Francis Ngannou e Cyryl Gane face each other in the main fight of the UFC 270, this Saturday (22), for the unification of the Ultimate heavyweight belts.
