Chael Sonnen believes in new motivation for Jon Jones in heavyweight

In a statement to his YouTube channel, the commentator cited a possible lack of motivation for 'Bones' in the under-93kg division and believes in a turnaround in the new category

For the former fighter Chael Sonnen, the last performances below the level of Jon Jones There is a clear reason: the lack of motivation in the light heavyweight category (up to 93kg). On its official channel on youtube , the current commentator said he believes that the former champion has lost the 'shine in his eyes' after years of superiority in the division and said that he will find new enthusiasm, with the challenges he will face in the heavyweight division (up to 120,2kg).

“When you saw a (Jon) Jones fight, there were people who dressed up as empty chairs. Fewer and fewer people were interested, that was how the story would be told, but I don't know if I agree. I don't know if people have lost interest in Jones. I think Jon has lost interest in light heavyweight. This division is no longer interesting to him. Perhaps, he looked at some of those opponents as if they were not worthy. Jones needs to regain interest,” Sonnen said.

Aware of Jones' interest in moving to the heavyweight division, Sonnen believes he will rediscover his motivation in the new category and cited some of the challenges he will face.

“I think that’s what the heavyweights represent. Jones won't see people dressed up in empty seats for a significant period of time. There will be three huge fights waiting for him now: (Francis) Ngannou, (Ciryl) Gane and (Stipe) Miocic. Any way you want and in any order you want. These will be fascinating combinations”, said Chael.
