UFC jiu-jitsu legend, Do Bronx talks about knockout days before facing Poirier: 'In the first round'

Just a few days away from one of the biggest challenges of his career, Charles of the Bronx is confident of making history in front of Dustin poirier. Star of this Saturday's event (11), the Brazilian guarantees that he is ready to win outside his comfort zone. Jiu-jitsu legend, the lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg) talks about a knockout.

“I want to win, no matter what. I really believe in the knockout. He's good at punching and I like to surprise. All the guys have been breaking through the category and they don't say anything. They say he's a monster, that he's a knockout artist, that he makes things happen, and they hit and the guy doesn't fold. I throw a left and they fall, I don't know why that happens. It's like I said, there's something different”, said Charles, in an interview with 'Combate'.

The prediction of a resounding victory over one of the best boxers in the UFC is not everything. The Brazilian also predicted when he intends to settle the bill against the former interim champion of the group.

“Something I said in my last fight I'll say again: on December 11th I'm going to shock the world, I'm going to beat this guy in the first round. I respect them a lot, just as I respect everyone else in the category, but today, with what is happening, I have something more than them. I’m going to shock the world once again”, he guaranteed.

Willing to make history and assume the position of greatest lightweight in history, Charles also has a message for the rest of the category. Leader of one of the most dangerous groups in MMA, the Brazilian has already challenged his teammates in the division.

“Line up and everyone in the category comes, one at a time, and I’m going to beat them all. I will sweep this category. And every time I want to be the discredited one, I want to be the one that no one believes in, because every time I hit them it happens like in my last fight, they give me a standing ovation, then the whole world says that Charles is a monster. No, Charles is not a monster, he has a difference. This is the reality”, he concluded.

Lightweight king, Do Bronx took the throne in May 2021. To reach the crown, the Brazilian dispatched Michael chandler, Bellator legend, hired last season to spice up the group.
