Dan Hooker surprises in choice of 'most technical lightweight' in the UFC today

Recently, Dan Hooker announced his return to the featherweight division (up to 65,7kg.) of Ultimate after another defeat to Islam makhachev – who submitted him in the first round of the UFC 267. Asked about the most technical fighter in his former lightweight category (up to 70,3kg), the New Zealander surprised by choosing precisely the Russian's new opponent, Beneil Dariush, on the top.

"The Beneil Dariush, in my opinion, is the best grappler and the most technical lightweight in the UFC. “I think it’s a difficult fight (Dariush x Makhachev). Beneil is incredible and has a game that allows for an impressive advantage. If they cancel each other out, then in my opinion Beneil has a fine-tuned game on his feet. They are the two best grapplers in the category, in my opinion”, said Hooker in an interview on 'Pub Talk with Oscar Willis'.

the fight between Beneil Dariush e Islam makhachev is scheduled to take place on February 26, 2022 and could even define the next challenger for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3 kg.), led by the Brazilian Charles of the Bronx.

In his last four fights for Ultimate, Dan suffered three defeats. The New Zealander suffered setbacks to Dustin poirier, Michael chandler e Islam makhachev and won Nasrat Haqparast. The number eight in the lightweight ranking has a record of 21 positive results and 11 negative results in his career.
