Back after the loss to Islam makhachev in one of the toughest commitments of his career, Thiago Moses is back. This Saturday (13), the lightweight prospect (up to 70,3kg) seeks to get back on the winning track and will face a tough opponent. Rival of Joel alvarez No. UFC Las Vegas 42, the Brazilian spoke exclusively to SUPER FIGHTS about weekend commitments and career development.

'Post-Makhachev' evolution
In July 2021, Thiago completed the toughest challenge of his career to date. The athlete shared the octagon with Islam makhachev, considered by many to be the success of Khabib Nurmagomedov, and ended up overcoming with a submission. For the Brazilian, defeat serves as a learning experience and can be used to improve his development as a fighter.
“The issue is to see the technical error. Continue evolving, improving. This is the biggest learning. We can never stop evolving,” he stated.
Joel's Analysis
This weekend, Moisés will have another major challenge in his career. The Brazilian faces Joel alvarez, which is considered a bet by the company for the group. The Tupiniquim, however, does not hide his confidence and highlights his experience to be superior in the confrontation.
“He’s a really tall guy, he has a really big wingspan. He has good straight strikes and defends himself well. He has a good knee, kicks well and is dangerous on the ground, but it's nothing I haven't seen before, or faced within the UFC – even in the gym. There (at American Top Team), he only has tough guys. He's never fought an opponent at my level and I've fought a lot of tough guys. The level of competition he has received to date does not compare to what I have experienced in the UFC”, he guaranteed.
Frequency in the company
Close to his third commitment of the season, Thiago doesn't want to rest in 2022. The Brazilian spoke about his expectation of remaining active in the organization and assured that he intends to keep his schedule full. Choosing new opponents, however, is not something that concerns the fighter.
“I want to stay active, take advantage of being young and healthy and fight as much as I can. I'm a UFC employee. I fight with whoever I order. Let’s wait for Saturday’s clash to find out the next steps,” he said.
Ideal outcome: simple and objective
Known for his versatility within MMA, Moisés makes no secret of the fact that his desire is to end the confrontation with Alvarez on the fast track. Thus, the athlete claimed the 'dream victory'.
“Knockout in the first round would be perfect (laughs). I want a bonus to close with a flourish”, he concluded.

At 26 years old, Moisés is heading towards his 21st fight as a professional in the sport. Today, the São Paulo native has 15 wins and five losses.
With 28, Joel alvarez he will also make his 21st clash in the sport. The fighter has 18 triumphs and two setbacks.
