The good relationship between Khabib Nurmagomedov e Justin gaethje seems to have come to an end and there is a reason: Islam makhachev. Managed by the same agent as the North American, Ali Abdelaziz, the Russian forgot cordiality when the subject became the next challenger for the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg.). To support his pupil, the 'Eagle' did not spare any criticism.

Nurmagomedov's provocation was related to Justin's defeat against the Russian legend, in October 2020. In the dispute, valid for the unification of the lightweight title, Khabib submitted the American in the confrontation that sealed his retirement from MMA.
Considered one of the greatest representatives of the sport in recent history, the former champion made a point of pointing out Makhachev's latest achievements in Ultimate. For the 'Eagle', his friend, student and training partner must already be accredited to fight for the throne.
“Islam is on a nine-match winning streak. Three fights in 2021 alone and all winning on the fast track. Shut up and admit that Islam deserves the title fight, not you”, he concluded.
Current number two in the ranking led by Charles of the Bronx, Gaethje starred in one of the best fights in the current UFC season. At the UFC 268, the athlete overcame Michael chandler in an epic battle, won by unanimous decision of the judges.
