The Gracie family started the vale tudo movement more than 50 years ago, promoting jiu-jitsu in fights against experts from other martial arts. The peak came when Rorion Gracie created the UFC and Royce gracie, his younger brother, won his first tournaments. The trademark of the early days of the UFC was, in addition to Royce's submissions, the little train formed by the fighter and his relatives that took him to the Octagon.

According to Royce himself, the legacy left by his family has followers today. In an interview with the English magazine Fighters Only, the only Brazilian member of the UFC Hall of Fame spoke about his current favorite fighters.

PUBLICITY:

“I like Nick and Nate diaz, Gilbert Melendez, that whole group. They remind me a lot of my family. They don't take offense to anyone's house. They are there to fight, they are there to win. They don’t run away from a fight,” he concluded.
