Ex-UFC Tim Credeur surrenders to authorities after drug and gun charges

The list of fighters who start to appear on the police pages of the news continues to grow. After sentence imposed on Paul Kelly – convicted of drug trafficking – now it’s the turn of also ex-UFC Tim Credeur.

According to a report from the American MMA Junkie, the middleweight handed himself in this Monday morning to police authorities at the Lafayette District Correction Center. With one charge of possession of marijuana and another of a firearm, Credeur still had to pay a US$5.500 fee on the two outstanding charges.

The arrest warrant for Credeur had been issued on May 29 by the Lafayette police, the city where the fighter owns the Gladiators Academy. A representative from the city's sheriff's office said the fighter was expected to be released later Monday. The incident occurred on April 16th.

Credeur arrived in the UFC through TUF 7, when he was a semifinalist. In the organization, he competed in five official fights, having won the first three against Cale Yarbrough, Nate Loughran and Nick Catone. After losing to Nate Quarry, Tim spent almost two years without fighting due to numerous injuries and returned at the TUF 13 Finale, in June 2011, when he was knocked out by Ed Herman. A jiu-jitsu black belt under master Rodrigo Comprido, Credeur had a record of 12 wins and four losses, with eight victories by submission and four by knockout.
