This Saturday (6), Weili Zhang will have the chance to avenge the only defeat of his Ultimate career. Therefore, at the event's media day, Zhang recalled the first duel between the fighters and mentioned how she could surprise and regain her belt. She made a self-criticism of the first duel, mentioned the training with Henry Cejudo and evaluated his learnings from the defeat.

“I didn’t think a loss could be a good thing. But after I lost the last fight, I thought a lot. I saw it as something good for me and it's like a treasure for me to know even more about myself and how I can evolve my game in the fight. This time, I learned a lot from Henry (Cejudo), both on the mental and technical sides. I always had a good sense about wrestling before coming here (United States), but I didn't expect to learn so much about wrestling during this training period,” said Weili.

The first Chinese champion in UFC history, 'Magnum' was the owner of the strawweight belt between 2019 and 2020. Zhang assumed the throne of the 52,2kg division by knocking out the Brazilian Jessica Andrade, made her first defense against former champion Joanna Jędrzejczyk and was subsequently dethroned by Namajunas. The Asian fighter has an MMA record of 21 triumphs and two setbacks.
