The second ‘bare-knuckle boxing’ event, chaired by Jorge masvidal, will no longer happen next weekend. ‘Gamebred Fighting Championship’ 2, which was scheduled to take place on September 11th, suffered from the impact of Hurricane Ida on the site and had its card postponed. The announcement was made by the athlete himself on his official ‘Instagram'.

“We decided to postpone GFC 2. If we hold the show on September 11th, we will be renting a lot of hotel rooms, which can be used by the people of Mississippi and Louisiana, who were affected by the hurricane. I, in good conscience, decided not to take resources from the people who need them most during this period. All fighters on the card will be moved to our October event,” Masvidal wrote.
Initially, the night's event would mark the debut of Antonio Pezão against Alex Nicholson. The Brazilian, however, ended up making a deal with the promotion ‘Eagle Fighting Championship’, owned by the former UFC lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg), Khabib Nurmagomedov, and was replaced by Jonathan Ivey. The card is rumored to take place on October 1st, at the same location.
The first edition of 'Gamebred Fighting Championship' was marked by the clash between Jakson Knight – who emerged as the winner – against the veteran Charles Bennett.
HURRICANE IDA
Hurricane Ida, category four, hit the East and Gulf Coast of the United States – especially Mississippi, where the event would take place. In addition to the USA, countries such as Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Jamaica and Venezuela were also affected. It is estimated that, in total, around 71 people died as a result of the storm.
