“I didn't perform well this time, but honestly I was out for 500 days and (underwent) several surgeries. I'm proud of what I was able to do. I tried to climb a very high mountain and this was just another 'speed bump' on the way. My best performances are ahead of me and I know it,” said Lee.
Despite suffering a setback in his return to welterweight (under 77kg), the fighter believes he is still among the best competitors in the world and promised not to be discouraged towards the top of the division.
“I don’t care if I have to hit my head to get there. I won't stop until I figure this shit out. I'm still competing with the best in the world and I'm not going to lower my head just yet. If you have anything negative to say to me, f*** you, from the bottom of my heart. F***-** all your hate. Thank you to everyone who achieved love. I haven’t finished (my career) yet, by any means”, concluded the American.
Considered one of Ultimate's biggest promises in the past, Kevin Lee He also achieved a sequence of nine victories in ten fights, five of which were in a row. He even competed for the lightweight title (up to 70,3kg) against Tony Ferguson, but he was defeated and, since then, he has had six fights – two triumphs and four setbacks.
