BJ Penn convicted of assaulting police officer

The Hawaiian B.J. Penn was sentenced this Tuesday to a year's probation and pay a $2 fine for attacking a police officer in a bar in Waikiki, Hawaii, in 2005.

The judge ruled that BJ will be able to travel to England to fight for the UFC lightweight title against Joe Stevesson, but as part of the sentence the fighter must abstain from alcohol, perform 50 hours of community service and undergo random drug and alcohol tests.

In a statement outside the courtroom, Penn said, "It's time to move on with my life and focus on my career."
