Considered one of the biggest promises in the bantamweight division (up to 61,2kg), Sean O’Malley has been receiving criticism for not having yet faced any ranked opponent in the UFC. Without being bothered by the 'attacks', the North American emphasized that he receives the same value regardless of the opponent and stated that it is all just 'envy' of his division rivals.

“In my next fight, a lot of people want me to face someone ranked. I should face in UFC 264 (Louis Smolka). My contract says I have to do a certain number of fights and I will be paid the same amount regardless of if I face Louis Smolka or fight with Petr yan. I receive the same amount. I'm going to face this guy who is smaller, but I fought him in a card de pay-per-view do Conor McGregor”, declared the ‘Sugar‘to the podcast’No Jumper'.

The North American athlete believes that the criticism of his fights is due to the fact that he attracts much more audience than most fighters.

"Chael Sonnen always says to fight the worst guy at the top of the card. A lot of bantamweights and UFC people definitely hate me and it comes from envy. I am being seen much more than them. I perform inside. You watch these guys fight and you literally pick up your phone and start looking at Instagram. You don’t give a shit what they’re doing”, concluded the controversial fighter.
