Escalated to face Michael chandler No. UFC 268, the former interim champion sees the commitment as a 'service given' and is already looking at the next challenge. Anticipating a hypothetical duel, the athlete ignored the lightweight champion (up to 70,3kg), Charles of the Bronx and aims for a revenge against Dustin poirier.

A standout at lightweight, Gaethje faced Poirier just over three years ago. On that occasion, the athlete ended up being defeated by his compatriot with a knockout in the fourth round.
After beating Justin, Dustin advanced in the group and, after another positive result, faced and won Max Holloway in the dispute for the group's interim belt. Afterwards, the 'Diamond' succumbed to Khabib Nurmagomedov, in a fight to unify the title.
Today, Gaethje occupies second place in the under-70,3kg group. Dustin is only after Charles of the Bronx and, today, he is the Ultimate favorite as the first challenger to the Brazilian's reign.
