The controversies surrounding Conor McGregor never end. After calling Daniel Cormier of “fat drunk” in yet another tweet that was later deleted, the Irishman was responded to in kind by the former UFC light heavyweight (up to 93 kg) and heavyweight (up to 120,2 kg) champion last Wednesday (11).

Today a commentator for North American ESPN, Daniel Cormier responded to provocations from Conor McGregor, who in addition to calling him a “fat drunk”, ridiculed his analysis of the shots saved by Dustin poirier in the fight against the Irish. According to Cormier, McGregor should worry less about himself and more about his opponents in the octagon.

“It's a lot easier for me because I work at ESPN. We have a department that does this, that separates all the shots that Conor took and were saved by Poirier. So, McGregor, listen to me well. Do not worry with Daniel Cormier. Don't worry about the things I say. Don't worry about the way I dress or how I look. Don't do that. Worry about the guys who keep kicking your ass every time you step into the octagon. I'm not the guy you have to worry about. I'm retired, living my best life. You have to worry about trying to beat the guys you face. Get off the internet,” Cormier responded.

Conor McGregor recovers from surgery after breaking his leg in the fight that marked the trilogy against Dustin poirier, in July. Since then, the Irishman has made waves on social media with later-deleted tweets about other fighters and even his family members.

After Conor attacks Khabib Nurmagomedov citing his father, who passed away in 2020, Daniel Cormier took a stand and stated that the Irishman’s attitude was a “cry for help”. DC explained what he meant by that.

“The reality is that McGregor is a top-level fighter. When I said it was a 'cry for help' he said it with the best of intentions. It was just me telling him to find someone who is willing to tell him 'hey, man, let's make things right.' But the truth is that I don't need to be friends with Conor McGregor, so I don't care what he says about me. I will continue doing my work. When he deserves praise, he will receive praise. When you deserve criticism, you will receive criticism”, concluded Cormier.
