Chris Weidman suffered a serious leg fracture in his last fight, against Uriah Hall, in April this year. The former UFC middleweight champion (up to 83,9 kg) underwent surgery the following day and began his recovery. In July, however, Weidman revealed that his recovery was not progressing as expected and that he would probably have to undergo further surgery.

Last Wednesday (11), through his own YouTube channel, Chris Weidman revealed that the procedure will be carried out this Thursday (12). According to the former champion, the decision was made after much reflection in recent weeks.

“Today is the day before surgery. The last three or four weeks of my life were very tough because I was in limbo trying to decide whether to have surgery or not,” Weidman revealed.

The former champion said that he listened to several professionals and analyzed different alternatives to overcome the problem, but that he is confident that he is making the right decision.

PUBLICITY:

“That basically started the doctor looking at my X-ray and seeing that my bone wasn’t healing the right way. After that I heard many different opinions and I was given several alternatives. So it was very difficult to know who was right. I've spent the last four weeks talking to different surgeons, but I feel like I'm now making the right decision,” she said.

Finally, Weidman stated that it should take between four and six weeks to walk again without crutches after the new surgery, but he still doesn't know when he will be able to return to training.

PUBLICITY:

“Honestly, I don’t know exactly what the recovery time will be. I think I will be able to walk again without crutches within four to six weeks after surgery. As for returning to training, I have no idea, I think it's different for everyone, so we'll see what happens. But I'm fine. I’ll get through this”, he concluded.
