Flyweight champion (up to 56,7 kg), Brandon Moreno has plans to defend the title later this year. However, the Mexican, who won the belt by submitting the Brazilian Deiveson Figueiredo in a dominant performance in the UFC 263, in June of this year, does not believe that the former champion deserves the opportunity for an immediate rematch.

“It's obvious that (Deiveson) Figueiredo wants the next fight because he lost the last one. But man, in the last fight I dominated him, in the first round, in striking, on the ground, in wrestling. So of course I'm open to facing him again, but I think he needs to fight someone first”, analyzed the champion.
The name seen as ideal by Brandon Moreno for his first belt defense is that of the former bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) cody garbrandt. The Team Alpha Male athlete has stated in the past that he would like to move down to flyweight. In addition to him, the Mexican analyzed other possibilities in the category.
"cody garbrandt wants to come to the division. I know it's not the best moment of his career, but it's a good name. He is a former champion and has a strong brand behind him. It's an option. The fight between Alexandre pantoja e Brandon royval could also be a possibility. Obviously, we have Askar askarov, but he has a hand injury and is expected to be out for five or six months. I'll be ready in October or November. I think November is better, it doesn’t matter who I’m against, I just want to fight,” said Moreno.
