The Swede Alexander Gustafson revealed his desire to face the Brazilian Lyoto Machida upon his return to the Octagon. After being left out of UFC Sweden 2, held last Saturday (06), due to a cut on his eyebrow, the European athlete offered to replace Jon Jones ou Chael Sonnen, who will face each other at UFC 159, in case of injury, or face off against the Brazilian athlete, where the winner would be the next challenger for the Ultimate title.

In turn, Machida stated that he has already secured the right to be the next challenger for the belt, but he is willing to fight whoever the UFC wants. “I got the chance to regain the belt in a future fight, I'm ready to fight for the title, but if the UFC decides that I should fight another opponent before that, I'll be ready,” said Lyoto.

Gustafsson, who has an MMA record of 15 wins and just one loss, achieved the biggest triumph of his career in his last appearance. At UFC on FOX 5, held in December, he beat the Brazilian Mauricio Shogun in the unanimous decision of the judges. In turn, Machida has a professional record of 19 wins and three losses. The Tupiniquim karateka also comes from a triumph, when he beat the veteran Dan Henderson at UFC 157.
