In an interview with Brazilian journalist Guilherme Cruz, from the North American website MMAFighting, “Daredevil”’s conditioning coach, Rafael Alejarra, assured that Michel is not just an entertainment attraction.
“He’s not just an attraction, he’s destined to win the belt. The fight against Khaos Williams proves it. There was no showing, nothing. It was a serious fight. We knew how important that fight was, the dangers the opponent presented. In our opinion, Williams fought waiting for a blow, so Michel fought in a different, more serious way. I believe that Michel knows against which opponents he can do what he likes, but he also knows when to take a step back and not take risks”, analyzed the coach.
The opponent of Michael Pereira No. UFC 264 is the North American Niko Price. Like Michel, Price is known for putting on exciting fights. In his 12 appearances for Ultimate, Price never went to the side judges' decision.
Rafael Alejarra guarantees that his opponent will get the respect he deserves and that the fight is a strong candidate to be the best of the night.
“We respect him, we know he is also trying to grow in the organization and we need to be careful. Michel will go in there and feel how he should act. But we know it's a good fight for Michel. Niko is a great athlete and they will probably have the fight of the night”, concluded the coach.
Michel “Daredevil” Pereira faces Niko Price on the preliminary card of UFC 264, on July 10, in Las Vegas. Coming off two consecutive victories, the Brazilian is aiming for a place in the Ultimate welterweight rankings.
