Khabib predicts who would win the superfight between Usman and St-Pierre

Lightweight legend, Russian highlights current moment as a determining factor for eventual meeting between welterweight icons

Even officially retired from MMA, Khabib Nurmagomedov stay up to date on the world of sport. Out of the sport since the end of last season, the lightweight legend (up to 70,3kg) gave his opinion on a possible superfight between the current welterweight champion (up to 77kg) and the former leader of the group, Georges St-Pierre. Betting on the moment as a determining factor for the bet, the athlete spoke about the subject.

“Currently, I think Usman (would win), because he is at his peak. What was GSP (St-Pierre)'s best moment? I believe it was in 2009 and 2010. I think it would have been difficult for Usman to face him back then. I think St-Pierre was the best at that time. 2021 and 2010 are different times and another level of competition. It would be wrong to compare. It would be like analyzing who would win between Mike Tyson and Muhammad Ali. Nobody knows and will never know”, said the Russian, in an interview with UFC Russia.

Welterweight champion since 2019, Kamaru has written a great story within Ultimate. Undefeated in the organization, the Nigerian now has 14 consecutive victories in the company and has four title defenses.

Considered one of the best fighters of all time, St-Pierre has not performed since 2017, when he returned to the UFC after a four-year hiatus. On that occasion, the Canadian moved up to middleweight (up to 83,9kg) and won the category title by dethroning Michael Bisping. The athlete did not defend the belt.

At 34 years old, Usman has 20 fights as a professional in MMA. The fighter has 19 triumphs and only one setback.

Sports legend, Georges, who is not officially retired, achieved 26 positive results and two negative results in mixed martial arts. Today, the Canadian is 40 years old.
